Darius Lim

Singaporean Composer-Conductor Darius Lim is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Voices of Singapore and Executive Director of Venture Music Asia. His numerous hats in the music and arts industry include President of Choral Directors’ Association of Singapore, the nominated Singapore representative on the board of the Asia Pacific Choral Council, and Deputy General-Secretary of the National Instructors & Coaches Association. He has also served on other various other international music adjudication panels and boards around the world.

Among the numerous recognitions and accolades garnered under the Voices of Singapore Choral Society, the Singapore Virtual Choir received international acclaim when their rendition of “Home” by Dick Lee went viral and is now used for national level events and set as a benchmark for virtual choirs in Singapore.

Darius Lim also runs the annual Voices of Singapore Festival that brings together more than 10,000 people from all walks of life to sing at the iconic Chijmes Hall. He is also a nationally sought after conductor and composer whose works and choirs have been featured and presented in events such as the President Star Charity, ChildAid, Singapore State Courts and the Speak Mandarin Campaign. Darius Lim has risen to prominence in the national and international music scene with more than 40 national and international awards in choral and composition competitions. An internationally published composer (Edition Peters, Walton Music, Pana Musica) and established conductor, he is most known for his unique infusion of lyrical, dramatic, instrumental, and theatrical elements in both the choirs he directs as well as his choral music.

He has held former posts as Associate Choirmaster of the Singapore Symphony Children’s Choir, Music Director of Singapore Eurasian Association Choir, and Music Director of the National University of Singapore Society Choir. He graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (UK) with a Masters in Choral Conducting (with Distinction) and is currently reading a Doctor of Musical Arts.

Being an old boy, Darius Lim hopes to inspire Haisians with the same passion that was nurtured during his youth. He sees secondary school life as being one of the most important stepping stones in a person’s youth and seeks to provide insights and opportunities for those who wish to pursue their artistic endeavours.
